I will not condone any wrongdoings, says Najib

ALOR SETAR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday stressed that he would not condone any wrongdoings and that wrongdoers will face action under the law.

Speaking at the opening of Kedah Umno Convention here yesterday, Najib, who is also Umno president, said the rule of law would always be upheld.

“As the prime minister and party president, I will always try to do my level best for the party and the nation. If there’s a problem, let’s overcome it together. If there’s an issue, let’s tackle it together. If we have to be transparent, then let’s be transparent.

“If there’s a wrongdoing, we will not condone it, we’ll fix it, we’ll take action according to the law. The rule of law we must upheld,” he said.

Present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who is also Kedah Umno chairman, and delegates from all 15 Umno divisions in the state.

On Kedah government’s plan to build a new international airport in Kulim, to be known as Kulim International Airport (KXP), Najib said the federal government was still waiting for the completion of report on the matter.

“We are still waiting for the report. It will be tabled to the Cabinet later and may Allah help make it a reality,” he said.

The Kedah government had planned to build KXP at a cost of RM1.6 billion to boost the economy in the northern states. — Bernama
