MIRI: A man went to Miri central police station (CPS) yesterday morning to report that he assaulted his wife.
According to sources, the row started when his wife did not return home after her night shift on Saturday.
At about 9am yesterday, the enraged 53-year-old husband, who is jobless, went to his wife’s work place.
On arrival, they quarrelled, which ended up with the wife sustaining injuries on her face and body.
The man fled the scene, leaving the injured wife behind and proceeded to CPS to inform police that he had hit his wife.
But a mobile police vehicle (MPV) searched in vain for the injured wife.
Fortunately, the 43-year-old woman, who is a cleaner at a nearby hotel, was spotted stepping into the CPS to lodge a report, unaware that her husband was also there.
The case is being investigated under section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.
