Mangan elected unopposed as new BAK president

KUCHING: A businessman Mangan Ngandok was elected unopposed as the new president of Biperoh Association Kuching (BAK) at its recent triennial general meeting.

He replaced Dr Benedict Poris who did not seek re-election after completing his maximum service of three terms.

Mangan said he would continue the good work of Benedict in preserving and protecting the interests of the Biperoh, a sub-group of the Bidayuh community residing in Padawan and Penrissen near Kuching.

He said the association will solicit for funds to build the proposed Biparuh community hall as well as to support its education and cultural programmes.

The association had acquired a piece of land at Kampung Garung along the Borneo Highlands Road for the proposed community hall, he added.

Mangan disclosed that the earth filling work for the site has been completed and when ready the hall will be used for the association’s activities including the proposed Biperoh bazaar.

Deputy president’s post goes to Richard Daho Senyok @ Deo Ak Sinyok while vice presidents are Rangen Jamang and Ah Chun Medo.

Wary Sedek is the secretary general, with Sebastian Sakoi as assistant secretary general.

Marcellinus Meran Poes was elected the treasurer general and assisted by Stephen Adee Asoi.

The ordinary committee members are Jimson Jium Sungong, Jong Likan, Nawog Sohai, Robertson Roja, Roring Sohai, Akeng Anyoi, Kidat Paon, Harrison Sango, Dewort Jawap, Ahchoi Suim, Samson Manggang, Mapu Raki, Dihed Tommy Dium, Jen Sangel, Jorai Suser, Batim Sties, Robin Mundib, Daniel Jita, Anselm Grem and Bojeng Senan.
