Royals Celebrated CNY with Tiong Hwa Community

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam have consented to grace a Get-Together held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2015, organised by the Brunei Darussalam Tiong Hwa Community, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty the Raja Isteri were greeted on arrival at the International Convention Centre in Berakas by Yang Berhormat Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Awang Goh King Chin, the Honorary Advisor to the Executive Committee for the Chinese New Year Get-Together, Awang Malcolm Lim Peh Beng, the Chairman of the Committee as well as members of the executive committee.

Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons, daughter, brothers and sister, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh ‘Ab Rahaman; His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna.

The pledge of loyalty from the Tiong Hwa young generation signified the Chinese Community’s undivided loyalty to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty’s government.

The presence of Their Majesties at the Chinese New Year Get-Together showed the high level of attention to the diverse ethnic communities in the country, including the Chinese community. Their Majesties then consented to receive Pasambah.

The event was enlivened with a number of cultural song and dance performances by students of the Chung Hwa Middle School in Bandar Seri Begawan who are the next generation of the Tionghwa Association in the country. The celebration is an annual traditional event that unites the country’s Tionghwa community regardless of any association represented.

At the lobby of the International Convention Centre, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty the Raja Isteri as well as other Royal Family members consented to view an exhibition showcasing the customs and traditions of the Tiong Hwa Community.

The Chinese New Year celebration is a chance for the Chinese community to get up close with His Majesty as it represents a golden opportunity to meet and greet the Royal family personally.
