Three men held for illegal paintball games, possession of imitation firearms

PUTRAJAYA: The police have detained three men for allegedly using imitation firearms without a permit at separate paintball game outlets during the Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Fiesta here on Sunday.

Putrajaya police chief ACP Abdul Razak Abdul Majid said two men, aged 20 and 21 were nabbed in the first raid at a paintball game arena about 3pm. “Upon inspection, both men did not have a permit and licence to hold paintball games.

“From the duo, the police seized six units of paintball guns, 21 gas cannisters and nine boxes of 0.68 calibre paintball bullets,” he said in a media conference here yesterday.

Abdul Razak said the suspects had committed an offence under the Arms Act 1960.

He said about 30 minutes later, the police raided another paintball game outlet at a recreational sports centre and seized imitation firearms.

A 20-year-old man was detained to facilitate investigations into the seizure of 16 Markson Sport laser tags (fake firearm) and a unit of multi-charger. Abdul Razak said the value of seizures from both raids was estimated at RM50,000. — Bernama
