Immigration deports five Chinese workers

BANJARBARU, South Kalimantan: Immigration Office Class I Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, deported five Foreign Workers (TKA) from China who worked in the coal company, PT Merge Mining Industry (MMI), Antaranews reported.

Head of Immigration Office Banjarmasin Tjutju Purnama in Banjarbaru on Wednesday said repatriation of five foreign workers was because they do not have permit to be employed as foreign labor.

“Repatriation of China’s five foreign workers because they do not have a work permit which should be managed by the company before hiring them,” Tjutju told reporters.

He said the repatriation of foreign workers, who had been working at PT MMI was, entirely the responsibility of the company and the Immigration Office only accompany them.

Five foreign workers from China who were arrested by Minister of Manpower Hanif Dahiri at a sudden inspection, Saturday (14/3), has been flown off on Wednesday at around 18:00 pm after being held for four days.

He said that, in addition to five foreign workers, the immigration also arrest 26 foreign workers who work in PT MMI on Tuesday (17/3).

“The arrest of 26 foreign workers is a follow up operation to the five foreign workers who were arrested before and now they are being held at the Immigration office,” he said.

Action against dozens of foreign workers from China who do not have permission to work is also the same as the previous five workers.
