SIBU: The High Court here yesterday ordered the release of a 23-year-old man after finding him not guilty of murder.
Balong Luta was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty upon conviction.
On Oct 1, 2014, the court ruled that the prosecution had proved a prima facie case against him and ordered Balong to enter his defence.
In his verdict yesterday, Judge Lee Heng Cheong said the prosecution failed to prove reasonable doubt and ordered for Balong to be released.
