KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will have 31 new fire stations during the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP).

According to the state’s Fire and Rescue Department director-general Datuk Wira Haji Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim at a press conference after the closing ceremony of the 2015 Forum on Integrity Reinforcement held at Kompleks Pentadbiran Persekutuan near here yesterday, the fire stations are classified under Category D and would be located in smaller towns in Sabah.

“However, their materialization will be dependent on the availability of site,” he said.

The fire stations will employ both full-time and volunteer firemen.

During the 10th Malaysia Plan, a total of three fire stations were constructed in Sabah.
