TUTONG: A fire broke out at a three-storey military barrack at Tutong Camp yesterday. It occurred at a unit on the barrack’s third floor, Brudirect reported.

According to the Tutong Fire and Rescue, a distress call was received around 9.50am, and on arrival to the scene the fire was already put under control by the camp’s own fire personnel. The Tutong Fire personnel were rushed to the scene to provide the necessary support.

A total of three fire engines were rushed to the scene, including two from the Tutong Fire Station and one from the Camp’s own fire services. The fire was successfully put under control and only affected one of the units. Fortunately, there was no one inside the unit as the personnel was out working and the family members were also out.

Investigations by the Tutong Fire and Rescue personnel revealed that the fire may have broken out from a short circuit of a ceiling fan’s motor.

Losses from the fire were still being studied.
