KUALA LUMPUR: Seven non-governmental organisations (NGOs) lodged a police report demanding the relevant authorities to take action against BFM presenter Aisyah Mohd Tajuddin for allegedly insulting Islam.

The NGOs are Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah (MJMM), Gerak Kerja Gabungan Ayahanda Selangor (Gegas), Pertubuhan Permuafakatan Majlis Ayahanda Malaysia (Permas), Ikatan Usahawan Kecil dan Sederhana Malaysia (Ikhlas), Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM), Majlis Bendahara dan Akhlak Rahsia Cekal (ARC).

Speaking on their behalf, MJMM president Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah said they wanted the police to arrest Aisyah immediately for showing total disregard for Islam as the official religion of the Federation.

“She (Aisyah) has not just insulted Islam, but had also insulted and had been extremely disrespectful to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Malaysia as the head of Islam in the country and to the Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V who consented the implementation of hudud law in the state,” he told reporters outside the Dang Wangi police station here.

Abdul Rani said they also wanted all the relevant authorities, including the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission to take action against Aisyah so that it would deter others from insulting Islam or acting in the same way.

Aisyah was reported to have received death and rape threats after she made the alleged insulting remarks in a BFMKupas video clip about the Kelantan hudud law titled ‘Hudud Isi Periuk Nasi’, which went viral on social media. — Bernama
