MIRI: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Miri and 10 Dayak-based NGOs held a press conference at the PKR Miri office this morning with the families affected by covert conversion to Islam present.

The 13-year-old student, who lodged a police report against the forced conversion on March 25, was one of the first two of other cases of forced conversion.

Her parents (names with-held to protect the identity of minor) called on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem to step in and put a stop to teachers converting students against their consent and that of their parents or guardians.

Welfare, Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah will be visiting the families affected to verify these reports and has scheduled a press conference later today.
