SEMPORNA: A comprehensive review will be carried out on Kampung Bangau-Bangau water village settlement with the view to seek an alternative solution, in order to have some uniformity for village settlements that needed to be rebuilt with priority to be given to locals.

Bugaya assemblyman, Datuk Ramlee Marhaban, said he would review the overall situation of water village settlements because the houses are built too close to each other and not in an orderly manner.

“I have also asked the Chief Minister’s security division for welfare aid to provide urgent assistance as the victims are many, apart from getting complete information and the total number of local fire victims,” Ramlee said yesterday.

Ramlee, who is also the Assistant Minister for Finance, said the fire incident that happened at Kg Bangau-Bangau was the second and the worst incident involving many villagers most of whom are locals.

Temporarily, he said, the fire victims will be placed at the Semporna Community Hall and the Semporna Youth Hall. An emergency meeting will be held at the district office to plan the next course of action following the second fire incident.
