KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stampin parliamentary liaison committee aims to get at least 200 eligible but unregistered individuals in the Stampin constituency to register as voters on Sunday (March 29).

The committee’s chairman Tan Joo Phoi said some 300 party members would be mobilised to ensure success for the upcoming four-hour event to take place at Dewan Stapok, Jalan Stephen Yong here from 9am.

“It will be the first time we organise such function and members of the three branches under the SUPP Stampin parliamentary liaison committee, namely, Batu Lintang, Batu Kawa and Kota Sentosa will attend the event.

“Light refreshment will be provided for members and those who come forward to register as voters,” he told a news conference at the SUPP’s headquarters yesterday.

Tan said he did not know the total number of unregistered eligible voters in the Stampin parliamentary seat.

“We do not know the figure. But as of the last general election in 2013, there were 84,000 registered voters in P196 Stampin.”

The voters’ registration activity on Sunday, he said, would be facilitated by the state Special Affairs Department (Jasa).
