BR1M for 1,232 recipients in Sandakan

SANDAKAN: A total of 1,232 eligible people in Libaran division received their 1 Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M 4.0) at Sri Libaran Hall yesterday.

The BR1M 4.0 assistance were given out by Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman.

“The BR1M, the fourth payout for this year proves that the Barisan Nasional government is indeed fulfilling its promise.

“The government not only fulfills this promise made before the 13th General Election but has somehow increased the amount of aid,” he said.

Musa also reminded the recipients to wisely use the assistance and hoped it could ease their burden.

Meanwhile, one of the recipients, Abdul Ghani Bin Hassan, 61, expressed his gratitude to the government for the aid.

The former school gardener, who came to receive his BR1M on a wheelchair due to gout, also said he would keep the assistance for his medical expenses.

“This assistance could ease my burden and it is good that the amount had also been increased each year. I can use this assistance for my medical expenses,” said the father of 14 children.

From the total number of recipients, 920 are from Sungai Sibuga constituency while 312 are from Gum-Gum.

Also present were Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing, Datuk Zakaria Haji Mohd Edris, President of Sandakan Municipal Council ( SMC), Datuk James Wong and Deputy President of SMC, Haji Hamsan Haji Awang Supain.
