Hypermarkets, retail outlets in Miri gearing up for GST

MIRI: Hypermarkets, supermarkets and other business outlets here are getting ready for the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on April 1.

Boulevard Hypermarket & Department Store is among those establishments, being in the midst of changing shelf-label pricing in accordance with the implementation of GST at the start of next month.

For the convenience of shoppers, the management has placed notices at every level to remind them that the prices on labels may be different at check-out or payment counters, where the cashier system has already been updated.

The management has also assured that all prices displayed will be inclusive of GST on April 15.

Shoppers are reminded to approach staff if they encounter any problems regarding prices.

The new receipt introduced with GST also includes goods which are categorized under Standard Rated (GST) which is marked with the letter S and Z for Zero Rated (non-GST). The receipt also includes a GST Summary.
