KUCHING: A reflexology centre at Bintang Commercial Centre in Miri was recently found to have tampered with their electricity meter by drilling a small hole and injecting water into it to destroy the circuit.

In a press statement, Sarawak Energy Bhd said Sesco’s meter inspection team discovered that the small hole was drilled under the meter’s security seal stick to avoid detection by the team.

A police report has been lodged and the tempered meter seized and passed to a laboratory for further analysis.

According to a spokesperson, meter tampering by electrocuting the circuits are on the rise, and Sesco would continue to purchase more advanced meters with anti-tampering features to prevent power theft. Sesco would like to thank the public for tip-offs and urged those who have information about power thefts to report to the power theft hotline at 082-443535 or email [email protected].
