SIBU: This year’s Mr Sibu bodybuilding competition will be held on April 25 at Sing Kwong Shopping Complex (SKS) Salim here commencing at 7pm.

Coordinating the event are SKS and Sibu Division Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (SDBWA).

SKS manager John Yip told a press conference yesterday that Malaysians residing in the central region, including Kapit, Sarikei and Mukah were eligible to take part in the event.

“There is no entry fee,” he said, adding that there were five categories, namely novice; 65kg and below; 65.1kg to 70kg; 70.1kg and above; and champion of the champions.

Entries should reach SDBWA office at the Civic Centre by 9pm on April 20 at the latest.

The top three winners in every category will get RM200 cash voucher, RM150 cash voucher and RM100 cash voucher respectively. Each will also receive a trophy.

There are five consolation prizes of RM50 cash voucher and a medal. The champion of the champions gets RM200 cash voucher and a trophy. SDBWA president Chia Soon Cheong said last year’s championship attracted 20 participants and expressed hope that there could be more entries this year. He said privately-run bodybuilding gyms had mushroomed in Sibu and hoped each gym could send at least two participants.

“Winners stand a chance to compete for the Mr Sarawak to be held in Kuching on May 3,” he added. Entry forms are obtainable from SKS or SDBWA office.
