MIRI: Firemen from Lopeng Fire Station had to resort to creative means to assist doctors on duty at the hospital here, when they were called in to cut off a ring stuck on a 72-year-old woman’s right finger.

Five firemen led by senior fire officer (PBK II) Henry Jugah were mobilised to the hospital yesterday afternoon after receiving a distress call at the station.

It took them less than a minute to remove the ring from the woman’s finger.

According to sources, the granny was taken to hospital early that day by one of her sons after they failed to remove the stubborn ring from her finger.

The process to cut off the ring was conducted under a doctor’s supervision.
