KUCHING: Youths are invited to witness the Battle of the Bands, Tamiya Grand Pix and the finals of a futsal competition at the Meet Up Kuching Youth Festival at Le’Park, the Civic Centre here today.

There will also be a concert held at 7pm to mark the end of the festival. Organised by HAC Event in collaboration with OurYouth.my, the festival includes a car show, food fair, clothing line fair and flea market.

According to OurYouth.my founder and director Dato Patrick Liew, this year’s festival received an overwhelming response – about 5,000 visitors – compared to less than 2,000 last year.

“This is due to the fact that more people are aware of the festival and there are more activities this time around compared to last year’s.

“The purpose of this festival is for the youths of Kuching to get together and connect. This is an opportunity for youths of various backgrounds and from different schools and higher learning institutions to meet new people, get involved in the community and be active in sports to stay healthy,” he told the press after launching the event yesterday.

He said the festival was also aimed at promoting fun and healthy activities, while developing positive attributes like healthier lifestyle, self-esteem, fair play and good citizenship among the youths.

Entrance to the festival is free.
