KUCHING: Hundreds of people from all walks of life thronged Square Tower at Kuching Waterfront on Saturday night for ‘Earth Hour 2015’.
The event, organised by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), began at 6.30pm but Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman officially launched it only two hours later.
Before the launch, more than a hundred bikers geared up for Earth Hour Night Ride 2015 – one of the side events.
The organiser had also put together Earth Hour Walk 2015 for those present, including families with children.
Other activities held included a busking routine and the following contests: ‘Aerobathon Bandarayaku’, design, fancy dress, and bicycle deco.
Personnel manning several booths educated those present about global warming.
The four-hour long programme was jointly undertaken by Sarawak Energy Berhad, WWF-Malaysia (Sarawak), Rekajaya Go Green, Plaza Merdeka, Kuching Waterfront Management and Penview Hotel.
