KitaLawan rally: Khalid Samad release on bail

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS Central Committee member Khalid Samad was released on police bail last night after he was detained early in the morning to facilitate investigations into the #KitaLawan rally.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Zainuddin Ahmad confirmed that he was released about 8.30pm.

Khalid, who is also Shah Alam member of parliament was detained at his residence about 2.30am under Section 143 of the Penal Code. On Saturday, Parti Keadilan Rakyat Organising chief secretary (Jingga 13 head coordinator) Fariz Musa was also detained at Petaling Street at 8pm to help in investigations on the same matter. The #KitaLawan gathering, which started at the Jamek Mosque on Saturday before gathering at the Sogo Shopping Complex and ended at KLCC, was held in a controlled atmosphere without any provocation.

The gathering was in support of opposition leader and PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who is undergoing a five-year jail sentence for sodomy. — Bernama
