JOHOR BAHARU: Strategies and priorities for the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) will be presented in Parliament on May 21, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar.

He said the strategies and priorities, which were now in the final stages, would be presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Finance Minister.

“Before that, all feedbacks from all ministries will be taken into account and compiled before being presented to the Cabinet,” Abdul Wahid told reporters after flagging-off the ‘Jelajah Johor’ cycling expedition participants, here today.

He said this when asked on the status and planning of the projects in the 11MP.

“We have met with state governments, including the Johor state government and we have taken into account all issues raised in the sessions.

“Indeed, all states have their own list of priorities, so it is important that we go through a process of identifying the priorities so that we can carry out in accordance with our limited budget,” said Abdul Wahid.

He said to ascertain if the suggested projects would benefit the people or not, the creativity index method would be used.

“One method that we introduce to the 11MP is the creativity index method where we need the state governments and ministries to assess what benefits will be gained and we divide those benefits based on the cost of the project.

“So, the creative index method will be a gauge for us to assess one project with another,” he said.

“For the 11MP, projects that would benefit the people more will be made as priority and benefits will be evaluated in terms of economic growth and increase in household income,” he said. -Bernama
