SIBU: State player Crystal Tiong showed her class by lifting both the Girl’s Under-18 and U-15 titles in the Sibu Age-Group Table Tennis championship held at the Ping Pong Hall here last Sunday.
Sia Hsiao Ching had to play second fiddle in both categories after losing 1-3 (11-7, 12-14, 3-11, 8-11) and then 0-3 (4-11, 9-11, 5-11).
In the U-18 category, third and fourth placings went to Fion Soh and Karen Lynn Dick while Karen was third and Sia Hsiao Hung fourth in the U-15.
In the Boy’s U-18, Wong Khing Yreu beat Yu Kwong Li 3-1 to lift the title, followed by Clement Chiew and Thomas Ling.
Kong Siong Kwong whitewashed Ho Zhang Wei 3-0 to take the Boy’s U-15 crown followed by Ng Jian How and Kwang Ching Min.
Sibu Ping Ping Association vice chairman Tang Nguk Siong, who officiated at the closing ceremony, was happy to note that standards have improved but reminded players to continue to train hard to aim for higher glory.
