Izzuddin Yahaya of Kelantan hit the tape first with a time of 10.51sec to win the 100m at the Malaysian Open Athletics Championship in Kuala Lumpur last weekend. Finishing second and third were Sarawak’s Nixson Kennedy (10.62sec) and Terengganu’s Harith Ammar Sobri (10.63sec) respectively. Izzuddin and Nixson had earlier qualified to represent Malaysia for the upcoming SEA Games after clocking 10.48 and 10.51sec respectively in the semi-finals. Another Sarawak hopeful Jonathan Nyepa failed to enter the final after finishing his semi-final in 10.87sec. Jonathan, who is the reigning ASEAN University Games 100m champion, may still be selected for the 4x100m relay national team based on his personal best time of 10.64sec achieved at Sukma in May last year. — Bernama photo
