Motorcyclist killed, pillion rider injured

PENAMPANG: A motorcyclist was killed while his pillion rider is in critical but stable condition after the motorcycle they were riding rammed into a Perodua Kancil car along Jalan Panglima Banting, near Taman Prima Simundu at Kampung Kinanaig here yesterday.

Hezron Albert, 16, from Kampung Long Pasia, Sipitang was killed instantly after sustaining severe head and body injuries in the 1.20am incident.

His pillion rider, identified as Darol Samson David, also 16, from Kampung Kibabaig is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital intensive care unit and reported to be in stable condition.

District police chief DSP Azmir Abdul Razak said initial police investigation showed that the victims were on their way home to Kampung Kibabaig after a futsal game when the rider lost control of the machine which then skidded off the road and landed on the opposite lane.

“The Perodua Kancil car that was heading to Penampang from Inanam rammed into one of the victims who was lying on the road.

“Due to the impact, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.

He added the victim’s body had been taken to the hospital for a post-mortem. The driver of Kancil car did not sustain any injury.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Azmir urged eyewitness to come forward to assist police in their investigation.
