PENAMPANG: Upko, through its Education, Policy and Government Policies Bureau, has lodged a police report against a Facebook account under the name ‘Zamani Zainuddin’ for allegedly publishing racist and seditious statements.
The bureau’s chairman, Petrus Mojuntin, in his police report yesterday also alleged that there were pornographic elements posted on the said Facebook account.
Petrus, who is also Upko Youth Exco, is also urging the Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate the authenticity of the Facebook account as there had been cases of fake social media accounts posting racist, seditious and disturbing statements and images.
“We in Upko and Upko Penampang are unhappy with what this individual allegedly named Zamani Zainuddin has posted on his Facebook account. His statements are not only racist, it is also disrespectful to the country as a multi-religious nation.
“Some of his statements reflect his disrespect for Christians and this has made many people in Penampang angry,” he said when met after lodging the police report.
Malaysians have been living in peace and harmony for so long and it is not right when someone tries to disrupt this, Petrus added.
