KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appeared calm when arriving for his father Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman’s funeral in Kajang yesterday.

His father died at the Serdang Hospital at 1.45am yesterday due to breathing difficulties.

Anwar was seen arriving at his father’s house in Country Heights, Kajang at 10.45 am, accompanied by 18 prison guards.

He was clad in a white Baju Melayu outfit and was uncuffed and even managed a smile when greeted by visitors at the house compound.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor is currently undergoing a five-year prison term at the Sungai Buloh Prison after the Federal Court on Feb 10 rejected his final appeal on the charge of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, almost seven years ago.

Ibrahim was Seberang Perai Tengah MP from 1959 to 1969.

He had also served as a parliamentary secretary.

Ibrahim was buried at the Sungai Ramal Muslim Cemetery after the Zohor (midday) prayers. — Bernama
