KUCHING: For the budget conscious, aside from a reasonable price for a decent hardware that is au courant with the market’s current technology, battery life has also become a key factor that defines a phone from the rest in the market.

Affordable smartphone maker and global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, Huawei, has officially revealed its latest Honor 4X that is not only feature-rich, but packs an improved battery power which is said to be able to last up to 72 hours.

The Honor 4X is now available in Malaysia at a recommended retail price of RM619 (inclusive of goods and services tax) and will be available for pre-order at the official Huawei Honor online store: www.Vmall.my from April 1, 2015 onwards.

“The Honor brand has grown significantly in the country and we pride ourselves on developing smartphones that empower the brave to conquer the world through our technology.

“As such, we are proud to introduce the Honor 4X that challenges existing industry standards and sets a new record of being the first in the Honor series with dual 64-bit software and hardware capabilities that enables our consumers to experience unprecedented moments of excitement.

“The Honor 4X has also gone through rigorous testing in order to live up to your trust,” said Gary Xu, country director, Consumer Business Group, Huawei Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

According to a press statement, the Honor 4X is equipped with a 64-bit octa-core A53 for a powerful and energy efficient CPU for enhanced consumption and productivity.

Running on the Android 4.4 KitKat platform, the device comes with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 32GB via SD card slot.

The battery has a 3,000mAh capacity coupled with SmartPower2.5, which increases battery life by more than 30 per cent. For moderate users, the Honor 4X can last up to 48 hours while 72 hours of light usage.

Aside from that, the Honor 4X is enhanced with LDS laser engraving antenna technology and dual antenna design, which broadens the antenna bandwidth to strengthen communication performances.

“As such, users receive reliable reception even when the signal is weak in places such as underground garages and other marginal coverage areas,” the company claimed in a statement.

It also integrates 4G network connections to reduce the fallback to the 3G connection.

On its camera functions, the Honor 4X features a high definition five megapixel front facing camera and a 13-megapixel, 28mm wide angle rear facing camera which boasts high dynamic range to reproduce intense natural light and colour in any kind of circumstances. The rear-facing camera is also equipped with a SmartImage 2.5 processing engine for quality photos. The five-piece lens protection with two-sided transparent foil and fingerprint resistant coating and improved light capture technology ensures better photos in low-light environments.

The Huawei Honor 4X also comes with the ‘ultra-fast snapshot’ feature which offers fast capture shutter.

The All-Focus Mode enables the ability to select areas to refocus after a picture has been taken, while the Watermarks feature adds more flavour and personalisation to the photos with a selection of color watermarks.

For the ‘selfie’ and travel enthusiasts, the new ‘panoramic selfie mode’ offers users a wide-angle scope that can now include all-inclusive views within the photo, while the ‘beauty’ feature offers a host of beautifying tools at your disposal for that perfect ‘selfie’.

Further enhancing the photo experience, users can now also take an audio photo by recording a note of up to 10 seconds after taking a picture.

As for the design of this new smartphone, Huawei explained that Honor 4X’s design combines woodwork, cotton and linen weaving techniques for designs that fully reflect the beauty of nature.

The Honor logo design draws inspiration from traditional Chinese embroidery with intricate diamond milling spin cut for a metallic ray-texture pattern.

“The inspiration behind the Honor 4X design is Laputa – the Castle in the Sky, with the camera and flash section aligned in a way that reflects the creative design of the robot as a tribute to Hayao Miyazaki.

“The simplistic yet intricate details of the device also instills the phone with a sense of effortless performance, and gives users a more comfortable grip,” Xu said.

“It took us months of extensive design refinements to achieve this excellent balance of form and function,” he added.

Offering consumers the ultimate visual experience, Honor 4X has a 5.5-inch HD fully laminated waterfall touchscreen display with 1,280 x 720 high definition resolution for vivid and sharper images.

The device also has a 75 per cent screen to body ratio, placing the device ahead of its class. It also boasts the new EMUI 3.0 that is designed to create an easy, elegant, enjoyable and efficient experience.

The new version enables users to conveniently manage, search for, obtain and share resources.

The device comes in two colors – black and white. Other variations will be introduced later.
