MIRI: An allocation of RM6,000 under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of Senadin state constituency has been presented to Surau Abu Bakar Asaddiq in Desa Senadin here.

The presentation was performed by Senadin assemblyman Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is Assistant Minister for Communications, at SUPP Senadin office yesterday, where Abu Hurairah Mohammad represented the surau committee in accepting the fund.

In his remarks, Lee reminded the committee to be prudent in how they would use the money for surau activities.

“Moreover, you must continue to work alongside the government for the betterment of all communities under the Senadin constituency,” he said.

Abu Hurairah, on the other hand, praised Lee for his concern towards the Muslims in Senadin.

“We really appreciate his (Lee’s) understanding for the need to have a larger surau to cater to the increasing Muslim population in the area, including students of Curtin University of Technology Sarawak Malaysia,” he said.

According to Abu Hurairah, the residents here are still waiting for the commissioning of a new surau project, which was promised to them four years ago.

“Until today, we have yet to see the proposed new surau,” he added.
