KUALA LUMPUR: The Umno Puteri movement has urged all parties against adding fuel to fire over the issue of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s criticisms against the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Its chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said at the present moment all parties especially the leadership and Umno members must be of one mind and boost their commitment to support the leadership of the prime minister.

“Puteri Umno hopes all quarters refrain from being instigators who light the flame and pour fuel to make a bigger blaze,” she said.

She said this to reporters after a meeting of the Puteri movement with Najib, who is also Umno president, at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here, yesterday. Mas Ermieyati said the movement would be together with Najib in order to continue the agenda of the party and national struggle to face a challenge which was different from the 1998 era, especially the social media.

On the more than one hour meeting, Mas Ermieyati said among the issues raised were the Goods and Services Tax, 1Malaysia Development Berhad, the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu and the problems of the party and the economy.

She said the movement hoped such meetings would be continued in the future to explain issues arising.

On the criticism of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir against the leadership of the prime minister, Mas Ermieyati said at the event yesterday that the issue should be amiably and harmoniously settled in the family spirit as soon as possible.

“Puteri was born under Tun Dr Mahathir and we love both leaders, we love the party to continue its work and duty because many more challenges are waiting up front especially the social media,” she said. — Bernama
