New Flyover in Tutong to Ease Traffic Congestion

TELISAI / BUKIT BERUANG, TUTONG: The flyover at the Junction of the Tutong-Telisai Highway and Jalan Perumahan Bukit Beruang is now completed and opened to motorists. The B$18-million project is aimed at providing a higher traffic capacity in order to improve the safety and comfort of road users on Tutong-Telisai Highway, besides for a more efficient traffic flow, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

The matter was explained by the Minister of Development, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman at the official opening of the flyover yesterday.

Yang Berhormat Pehin added that the flyover construction project aimed to accommodate the ever increasing traffic due to the rapid development of the Bukit Beruang National Housing Scheme.

With the project, the U-turn on the highway will be closed and more interchange roads will be constructed. Currently, there are five on-going interchange projects expected to be completed by this year and next year.

According to the plan of the Road Department of the Public Works Department, currently they are five flyovers that have been identified to be constructed along the Tutong-Telisai highway in the future. Among the main junctions along the Tutong-Telisai highway identified to be upgraded are roads leading to the Bukit Panggal Proposed industrial site, Jalan Sungai Basong, Jalan Sengkarai, Jalan Bukit Udal and Jalan Tanjong Maya.

Also present were a member of the Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Awg Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahid who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Telisai; Dato Paduka Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar; and Awg Haji Muhammad Lutfi bin Abdullah, the Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Development; Awg Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry; and Awg Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali, Tutong District Officer.
