BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Majlis-Majlis Istiadat Perkahwinan Diraja (Royal Wedding ceremonies) of His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi’atul ‘Adawiyyah binti Pengiran Haji Bolkiah, which began on April 5 was formally concluded yesterday with the Majlis Istiadat Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga. The Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat and Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga was conducted in the presence of His Royal Highness Haji Sufri Bolkiah.
The ceremony began with Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awg Haji Mohammad informing Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar that the ceremony was in place to proceed. Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz informed His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah that the Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga was ready to commence.
His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah instructed Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awg Haji Mohammad to confer His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam that the Majlis Istiadat Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga was ready to proceed.
Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awg Haji Mohammad conferred His Majesty and sought His Majesty’s consent for the ceremony to commence.
As soon as His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam gave his consent for the ceremony to proceed, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awg Haji Mohammad informed His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented for the Istiadat Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga to be brought to a close.
Four Awang-Awang entered the ceremony to place the Dian Empat that have been lit. This was followed by three Awang-Awang carrying the surat Dikir, Bantal Geguling and Pebarahan, which were placed at special positions allocated.
The Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga began with a reading of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang DiMuliakan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awg Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang, who also led the Dikir Syarafil Anam. This was followed by 21-shots of the cannon. At the same time, the royal regalia and decorations put up along the Balai-Balai Pemajangan Istana Nurul Iman were brought down.
The Doa Dikir was read by Yang DiMuliakan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Awg Haji Emran.
Meanwhile Doa selamat was read by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Haji Awg Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
The ceremony proceeded with Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awg Haji Mohammad informed Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz that the Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga has been duly carried out. Yang Amat Mulia then informed His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah that the Majlis Istiadat Membaca Doa Selamat dan Menutup Gendang Jaga-Jaga has been duly carried out.
Present at the ceremony were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Councils, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin Pehin Manteri, Manteri-Manteri Hulubalang and Pedalaman, Heads of Foreign Missions, Permanent Secretaries and Heads of government department.
The Istiadat Berjaga-Jaga (Nightly Vigil) in conjunction with the Royal Wedding ended last night at the Istana Nurul Iman. The ninth and final night of the Istiadat Berjaga-Jaga was held in the presence of Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.
A dikir performance enlivened the Istiadat Berjaga-Jaga performed by officers and staffs of the Ministry of Religious Affairs led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr. Ustaz Haji Awg Mohd Zain bin Haji Seruddin.
The Istiadat Berjaga-jaga was also highlighted with a Short Poetic Phrases presentation entitled Bahtera Kasih declaimed by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Putera Maharaja Dato Paduka Awg Haji Abdul Ghani bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahim.
At another part of Istana Nurul Iman, a similar ceremony was held for women. Present were the wives of Pengiran-Pengiran Cheteria, Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin Manteri and senior government officers.
At the surau of the Istana Nurul Iman, the reading of the Quranic verses, Ratib Al-Attas, dikir and tausyeh enlivened the Istiadat Berjaga-jaga participated by officers and religious teachers from the Haj Management Department, Islamic Education Department, the Mahad Islam Brunei as well as officers and IRK religious teachers.
