KUALA LUMPUR: For having a tattoo symbolising an illegal organisation, an electronics technician was fined RM2,000 or two months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here today.

Magistrate Muhamad Faizal Ismail passed the sentence after K. Bala Muruli, 25, pleaded guilty to the charge.

He is alleged to be a member of the unlawful organisation seeing that he had a tattoo of the organisation on his body and hands at MRR2 Highway Desa Tun Razak, Cheras, here at 12.40 am on Oct 30, 2013.

Earlier, the accused who was unrepresented, asked the court to impose a lighter sentence on the grounds he had repented and was getting married soon.

However, deputy public prosecutor Joy N. Jothi applied to the court to impose an appropriate sentence to teach the accused a lesson. -Bernama
