KUCHING: The Land and Survey Department recently conducted ‘Ops Samalaju’ to evict a house owner from part of Lot 85, Block 1, Kemena Land District, Bintulu which is located in the Samalaju Industrial Park area, following his repeated refusal to vacate the land to make way for the Samalaju Combined-Cycle Power Plant.
Part of the said block was a Native Customary Rights (NCR) land, but the land was reclaimed in 1999.
Prior to the operations, several meetings were conducted with the owner to urge and help them to move, but the owner was adamant in not moving.
The operations were held together with other enforcement agencies like the Police, Immigration Department, National Registration Department, Agriculture Department, Bintulu Development Board and Sarawak Energy Berhad.
