KUCHING: The New Zealand High Commission has partnered with the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) in aid of flood victims in Kelantan and Terengganu.

In collaboration with MRC’s Harmony Programme, the New Zealand High Commission has donated Fonterra-sponsored Fernleaf Family milk powder.

A statement from the Commission said the milk powder will reach hundreds of families in Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah, Paka, and the Orang Asli community of Gua Musang.

Fernleaf Family Milk is specially formulated with important nutrients, vitamins and minerals and a single 90g packet will provide a family of four with milk for a week.

The Harmony Programme is an MRC initiative that helps with the delivery of care packages to flood affected areas.

“New Zealand has a long and friendly relationship with Malaysia and its people,” said New Zealand High Commissioner to Malaysia Dr John Subritzky.

“And we know all too well the havoc that natural disasters can cause and the impact that they have on communities. We have not forgotten the sympathy and support that many Malaysians extended to New Zealand following the Canterbury earthquake in 2011.

“We are very pleased to be working with Fonterra and the Malaysian Red Crescent to bring some small relief to those recovering from Malaysia’s devastating floods last December.”
