MIRI: Fearing for the safety of residents, a team from Lopeng fire station was mobilised to Tudan after they received a distress call about a natural gas leak.

According to sources, a private company has been carrying out underground drilling works at the area for the past two days.

Sources added that when the drilling works reached the depth of 120km underground, workers had heard a suspicious noise and unpleasant smell emanating from below.

When contacted, head of Zone 6, senior Supt Law Poh Kiong said that his men had been deployed and have secured the area for safety purposes.

“At the moment the situation is under control, and my men are still at the area carrying out inspection works,” said Law.
