Guard dies, six others injured as guardhouses attacked, burnt

KLANG: A security guard  died while six others were  injured when three guardhouses at a housing estate in Bandar Bukit Raja here were  attacked and burnt early yesterday morning.

The deceased was identified as Muhammad Ridzhuan Che Bi, 26; while the five injured security guards were N Arujunam, 64; Aziz Salim, 56; K Muniandy, 61; A Naagendran, 26 and  S Renganathan, 45.

Another injured victim who was not a security guard was identified as S Kannan, 45.

Klang Utara deputy  OCPD, Supt Zailan Tasir said police received a call at about  2am informing that three guardhouses in the Bandar  Bukit Raja housing estate  were attacked and burnt by  a group of five unidentified  men.

He said during the incident, Muhammad Ridzhuan who  was from Penang, was on duty  at one of the guardhouses  in the housing estate while  the other five victims who  were injured were in two  separate guardhouses located nearby.

“Preliminary investigation found that two guardhouses were burnt while the other had its window panes broken.

“The cause of the attack was believed to be due to a fight for territory,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

He said the forensics team found three blood swabs and three fingerprints at the scene  and initial investigation  revealed that the three guardhouses had only been set  up in the area. — Bernama
