LUNDU: Mas Gading MP Anthony Nogeh Gumbek presented RM237,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grants to 43 recipients during a meet-the-people session at Kampung Serayan Hulu on Saturday night.

The recipients comprised village security and development committees, parents-teachers associations and committees of places of worship within the Opar state constituency.

In his speech, Nogeh took the opportunity to explain the various government policies especially on Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the villagers.

Among others, he told them that GST, implemented since April 1, was a good policy and would not burden the people.

He said as far as rural folks were concerned, they should not be affected by the GST since most essential consumer items were zero-rated.

SPDP Opar chairman Rayan Narong and community leaders from the area were among those present.
