SIBU: Computer Sales and Services Association Sarawak (Sibu branch) is putting to good use the electronic waste (e-waste) to assist the less fortunate people.

Its chairman Wong Ing Ang said that proceeds from the sale of e-waste collected from the E-Waste Recycling Campaign would go to charitable bodies.

Last year they collected about three tonnes of e-waste during similar campaign.

“This is part of our social corporate responsibility besides helping to ‘green’ the town by providing an avenue for those wanting to dispose of their spoilt computers, printers and other electronic devices.

“The E-Waste Recycling Campaign is an annual activity of the association,” Ing Ang, who is also E-Waste Recycling Campaign 2015 coordinator, told reporters.

He was met after a symbolic handing over of e-waste from Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) deputy chairman Dato Andrew Wong to a recycler Voon Kuek Chin at the car park in front of Wisma Sanyan here recently.

Ing Ang said the campaign was part of their Love Earth Day 2015 activities. The campaign started on April 15 and ends today.

He said the campaign was geared towards creating a cleaner and healthier environment for the people here.
