SIBU: A man was caught combing the scene of a recent blaze for scrap metal and valuables yesterday.

Police arrested the suspect after they were alerted to his suspicious activities by the owner of the damaged shop at Tapah Road, which was gutted by a fire recently.

According to sources, the man in his 20s showed up at 1am at the shop and was spotted by a neighbour.

The neighbour subsequently alerted the owner of the shop, who then contacted the police.

It was said that the thief was driven to the scene in a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle.
