Abas to hold state bowling championship starting May1

KUCHING: The Amateur Tenpin Bowling Association of Sarawak (Abas) will be holding the 4th Sarawak Closed Tenpin Bowling Championship at Megalanes Adventure World (MAW), King’s Centre from May 1-17.

Organised for Abas members to foster and promote goodwill, friendship and sportsmanship among the bowling fraternity, it is open to all currently paid-up members.

The championship that offers a total prize money of RM10,440 is divided into open, graded, youth and Piala Persatuan categories.

Champion of the Open category will receive RM2,500 and trophy, first runner-up RM1,200 and trophy and third placing RM800 and trophy.

The Graded champion will walk away with RM1,200 and trophy while the first runner-up and third placing shall get RM700 plus trophy, and RM400 plus trophy respectively.

Top three finishers in Youth section shall each receive a trophy and bowling bowl.

Those finishing in first to third positions in the Piala Persatuan shall get RM60, RM40, RM30, a trophy each and a JC 2015 Grant.

Winner of the perfect game of 300 shall be rewarded with RM1,000 and certificate of achievement.

To compete in the Piala Persatuan, bowlers must be 15 years old and above while those wishing to compete in the Youth must be aged 21 and above.

Participants in the Graded category must have average of 180 and below.

Meanwhile, non-members wishing to join the competition can do so by signing up as new Abas members.
