Malaysian Flood Victims Fund Amassed Half a Million Dollars

JALAN KEBANGSAAN, BRUNEI-MUARA: The fund for Malaysia’s flood victims has collected almost half a million dollars. Three months after being opened to the public, the campaign collected B$491,127.00, ©BRUDIRECT.COM reported.

The contributions, including B$174,000.00 donated today were for the Humanitarian Fund for Malaysia’s Flood Disaster that was established in January this year. The donations were handed over at the Dewan DiGadong at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in Jalan Kebangsaan.

From today’s donations, B$53,574.00 are from the SMS collection campaign conducted by the DST, while the Mosque Affairs Department donated more than B$50,000. The balance of today’s contributions was from a number of Ministries, departments, education institutes, companies and associations.

The donations were handed over to Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Mohammad bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The function continued with a meeting to dissolve the fund by the Secretariat Committee of the Humanitarian Fund for Malaysia’s Flood Disaster and the dissolution of the fund’s committee.
