Bintulu hopeful of good results in MSSM tennis tournament

The Bintulu tennis team competing in the MSSS in Kuching.

BINTULU: A team comprising six primary and five secondary school players are representing Bintulu in the Majlis Sukan Sekolah Sarawak (MSSS) tournament in Kuching which starts today and ends this Sunday starting tomorrow.

The players are Lydia Liong Tng En (SJK (c) Chung Hua No.2), Netanya Michael Eton (SK Kidurong), Nazarul Farahin (SK Asyakirin), Ahmad Zaqwan (SK Kidurung), Phan Chen Huan (SJK (c) Chuang Hua No.2), Phan Chen Wei (SJK (c) Chuang Hua No.2), Jimmy Liong Kai Long (SMK Kidurung), Cheah Du Bhe (SMK Bintulu), Cheah Al Kaid (SMK Bintulu), Tommie Liong (SMK Kidurung) and Zul Kamal (SMK Kidurong).

This team did well in last year’s MSSS and Majlis Sukan Sekolah Malaysia (MSSM).

Four of the players Jimmy Liong, Lydia Liong, Cheah Du Bhe and Cheah Al Kaid managed to enter the finals of the tournament.

Jimmy Liong emerged the champion in the MSSM Under 12 Boys’ singles while Cheah Du Bhe was the first runner-up in the MSSM Under 18 Boys’ singles.

The team will be led by three teachers-in-charge, namely Muhammad Asree Abdul Aziz, Emiliawati Zainal Abidin and Agnes Lee.
