LAHAD DATU: Projects to upgrade Lahad Datu Airport and extend its runway are expected to improve the socio-economic status of the local community, said Silam MP Datuk Nasrun Mansur.
He said when completed, the airport would be able to cater to high capacity aircraft with more passenger capacity thus increasing the number of tourists visiting the district.
He said currently only light aircraft managed by MASWings operate five times a day carrying 70 passengers per flight from Kota Kinabalu International Airport to Lahad Datu. — Bernama
