JAKARTA, INDONESIA: His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to attend the Gala Dinner for Heads of States and Governments attending the Asian-African Summit 2015. Upon arrival at the Merdeka Palace, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was welcomed by His Excellency Ahmad Rusdi, Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Indonesia.
His Majesty then consented to proceed to the Credential Hall where His Majesty was welcomed by His Excellency Dato Laila Utama Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then consented to join other Heads of State and Government for the Gala Dinner. The Dinner was also graced with cultural performances.
Accompanying His Majesty were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of the Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Asian-African Summit 2015 was officially opened yesterday and attended by more than one hundred Heads of State and governments from more than 80 Asian and African countries. This year marked the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Asian-African Summit which began in 1955 in Bandung, Republic of Indonesia. In 2005, Indonesia successfully hosted the Golden Jubilee of the Asian-African Commemoration Summit. The summit acted as a foundation to enhance relationship among Asian and African countries in solving global issues with the establishment of the ‘New Asian-African Strategic Partnership’.
