SEPANG: Low-cost carrier AirAsia is offering premium handcrafted coffee onboard selected flights with the introduction of its ‘Baristas in the Sky’.

Gourmet coffee such as Espresso, Long Black, Cappucino and Cafe Latte will be served by AirAsia flight attendants who have been trained as professional baristas.

The coffee is currently available on AirAsia Malaysia’s flight code AK that are two hours and above at only RM8 per cup.

AirAsia head of commercial Spencer Lee said they found a strong demand for premium coffee on AirAsia flights.

“Since introducing T&CO’s range of products into our in-flight menu in late 2013, we noticed an upward trend in demand for good coffee. Feedback from our guests is valuable to us and we are proud to introduce our Barista in the Sky who will be serving premium coffee at affordable prices.

“As we launch this product today (yesterday), we have 10 AirAsia Malaysia aircraft equipped with the T&Co espresso machines and as we progress, the machines will be installed in more aircrafts across the AirAsia network. We are always on the lookout for new products and look forward to offer our guests an enhanced in-flight experience,” Lee said in a press statement.

AirAsia invites all their guests who have tasted the premium handcrafted coffee via Barista in the Sky to share their moments on social media platforms by tagging @AirAsia and @T&Co on Instagram as well as using the hashtag #baristainthesky.
