KUCHING: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Lintang branch held their 28th anniversary dinner on Saturday night.
Guest of honour SUPP president Senator Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian commended the hardworking members of the branch during his speech.
“28 years is not an easy road – there is sweetness, sadness, bitterness and everything you can imagine. So thank you for staying in the party throughout these 28 years. I want to thank members who have been on the ground and serving the people, and not like some other people who are just all talk but no action,” Dr Sim said.
He also urged youths in the party to be more proactive.
“Do things on your own initiative. You don’t need to be asked before you take action,” he said.
The anniversary dinner, which was also a fund-raising event, featured a cake-cutting and wine toasting ceremony as well.
Among those present at the dinner were organising committee chairman and Batu Lintang branch deputy chairman Chong Piang Men and branch chairman Sih Hua Tong.
