Man, 56, detained for intimidation of oil palm supervisor

MIRI: A team of Miri CID and Batu Niah police personnel arrested a 56-year-old man for alleged intimidation of a store supervisor of an oil palm estate.

The incident was reported occurred on April 24 in Batu Niah.

A police report on the assault was lodged by the victim at Batu Niah police station on the same day, after the suspect and a group dropped him off at Batu Niah’s bazaar in the evening.

In the incident, the suspect with nine others had allegedly bashed up the 58-year-old victim.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, when contacted yesterday, confirmed the arrest made.

“The arrest was made around 2.45pm Saturday at an oil palm estate in Niah,” said Stanley.

The suspect is being detained at Miri central police station (CPS).

“The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

“We are investigating the motive of the incident,” said Stanley.
