Chief Minister receives business tithes for TBS

KUCHING: Bank Rakyat contributed RM2,241,224 in business tithe to Tabung Baitumal Sarawak (TBS) yesterday.

On hand to receive the cheque from Bank Rakyat chief retail banking officer Datuk Suhaimee Yassin was Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

In a simple ceremony held at his office at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex, Adenan on behalf of TBS also received business tithe of RM100,000 from Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd which was presented by its executive chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Bujang Mohd Nor.

Among those present to witness the presentations of cheques were Assistant Minister in Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman, TBS general manager Abang Mohd Shibli Nailie and State Islamic Council (Mais) chairman Datu Putit Matzen.

Meanwhile, Adenan also presented government grants to four organisations at his office.

The first grant was presented to SMK St Joseph Kuching which would go towards funding 90 students of the school’s brass band on a trip to New York, USA where they would participate in a brass band competition in September.

Receiving the grant from Adenan was SMK St Joseph principal Thomas Lau, witnessed by the school’s band director June Ling and Old Boys Alumni member Zuraimi Sabki.

Apart from the school, grants were also presented to Masjid Darul Iman Bau management committee, Malaysia Volunteers Department (Rela) Sarawak and Permodalan Satok Bhd, each receiving RM500,000, RM2 million and RM100,000 respectively.
