KUCHING: A man was sentenced to eight years in prison and eight strokes of the rotan for raping a minor twice.
Azwan Shah, 22, committed the act on a 15-year-old girl near Pustaka Negeri in Petra Jaya here on Aug 22 last year, and did the same at a friend’s house after that.
He was convicted under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code at the Session Court here.
According to the victim, she did not agree to have sex with the accused.
Separately, a man got a 12-month jail sentence for possession of a stolen motorcycle.
Rode Latit, 33, was arrested on April 22 following the recovery of the motorcycle by police at Kota Sentosa earlier that day.
The Magistrate Court convicted him under Section 411 of the Penal Code.
In another unrelated case, a man received a three-month jail term and a RM2,800 fine in default of four-month imprisonment for selling stolen goods.
John Tunnie was taken in on April 19 by police, who also seized from him a bag containing a laptop computer, some documents and RM50, which was reported stolen from a house in Tabuan Jaya on April 17
The accused then also led police to recover another stolen laptop computer that he had earlier sold.
John pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted under Section 380, read with Section 414 of the Penal Code.
